I don't know that it's been codified in such a way that I coukd answer your question. the first AI would be definition be created by people, and so it wouldn't exist without other life. But true AI would definitely raise questions about the nature of life, consciousness, etc.

Can you make a human go crazy purely by inputting a short string of text? Not likely, and unlikely to be the case in a similarly complex AI. Any sort of system that can interact with the environment as generally as an animal brain is probably going to have to have a certain degree of robustness built into it. If a simple string of text can make it go haywire, it probably can't do much reasoning or even conversating to begin with.
