You've got 4 teams in a group playing 3 games each. A win gives you 3 points, a draw 1, a loss 0. The two teams with the most points go on to the next round. If a team happens to have the amount of points the goal ratio determines who gets the spot.

Now having said that, how many possible outcomes are there for the group stage? I figured you've got three digits with 3 possibilities for one team representing each game, so if you start counting 000, 001, 003, 010, 011, 013, you'll have 27 outcomes, right? So how many outcomes are there for a group (not counting the exact amount of goals only considering the number of goals of the individual teams being bigger or lower in relations to the other teams)?

Don't know much about math, would be cool if someone was able to show you formally would describe the issue.
