EEs have a chance in that field?
despite what the memes on /sci/ would lead you believe, yes, they will.
any decent company or lab will grimace when they see "EE" instead of "CS" or "CE." had plenty of interviews where I was immediately asked about my EE degree. some interviewers were very doubtful that I had sufficient experience and would drone on like "...yeah but you're not a CS major... so.." Etc, despite my extensive portfolio.
i recall one time where I was literally shut down for having an EE degree immediately, despite the application stating that they were acceptable. guy didn't even take the time to ask about my projects or research, just a straight up "you don't seem like a good fit because EEs are more hardware focused" i shit you not.
you have to remember that HR monkeys literally don't have a clue. you are at a severe disadvantage, and don't let /g/ tell you otherwise with their memes of codecampers and non-CS getting good, proper CS jobs.
