I'm an Engineering Student and I'm starting to study Physics in my free time. I enjoy working through Physics books but I find Math books pretty boring. I did well in Calculus and Algebra but there's some stuff I probably missed. Is learning a bunch of pure Math needed to learn advanced Physics or is it not that important once you know Calculus and Algebra?

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to appreciate mathematics. Physics is for midwits who don't have the IQ machinery to respect rigor -- they just kinda, you know, wing it on the back of a napkin, you know, guesstimate.

Stuff from math methods is useful for both physics and engineering (ODE, complex variable, PDE, integral transforms, special functions, tensor calculus)
For proof based math linear algebra is the bare minimum

How many real-world problems has pure, rigorous mathematics solved? Probably a decent number of them. How many real-world problems has physics solved? Probably a lot of them as well. In general, I will always respect both physicists and mathematicians for their different but (somewhat) equally justifiable methods of approaching a problem. However, I will not respect any /sci/ "mathematicians" that try to sow division between the two and claim supremacy.

At least a basic understanding of probability in continuous spaces and stuff about differential equations. The rest you will learn in the books about the actual subjects and then you can check wikipedia whenever you find anything weird.

It completely depends on what you want to do.
Astrophysics? High school math may suffice if all you do is looking for things in the nightsky.
Theoretical particle physics, cosmology, all outside of the usual pheno stuff? Well, if you want to do it properly, do as much so-called pure math as you can: Abstract algebra, real analysis, complex analysis, measure theory, functional analysis (!), topology, set theory, differential geometry...
Most of the good theoretical physicist had a grasp of math beyond hand-waving.

So in order to answer your question, tell us what you are particularly interested in.
