To calculate the rate of variation of 2 functions?
Couldn't it be made with trigonometry instead of calculus?

Trigonometry yes.... im on toilet might right later.... but in signal processing you can literally find a Transferfunction for your system by solving time based functions (input and system) using a differential equation, which takes ages OR a Fouriertransform which changes that times based function into it's frequncy spectrum in turn only needing a multiplication to solve that specific transfer function which is easier. But you usually learn that after differentual equations.

Pythagorens theorem is most advanced triginiometry you can get your hands on. Now solve it again, it may be even easier.

Actually every problem can be reduced to pythagorean theorem especially when it comes to sin and this bullshit.

You can draw circle using solely pythagorean's theorem, therefore it's possible to use it to calculate variation of two functions, you de facto must use it if you want to calculate some slope or something, it's really easy there.

But when you want to calculate rate of variation, if simple, therefore all sinusoid or tangendoid, can be reduced to sins and cosins, which can be drawn using circle, therefore pythagorean theorem can be winning once a gain.
