How do we explain asteroid impact concentrations?

It seems that asteroid impacts have mostly been detected in Australia, Canada/Northern US and Northern Europe.

Why is this in the satellite age?
30 years ago i would understand if this was due to africa, latin america and asia being largely unexplored but today this seems odd.

Do you have a map that takes into account the continental drift ? Vredefort and Sudbury were billions of years ago and africa and north america weren't there.

Those were once the locations of Hyperborean/Atlantian fortresses and settlements, before they were attacked by an outside force. i know this is /sci/ and i try not to shit up this board, but i keep hearing about meteorites and asteroids on pol and now its freaking me out a little. In the event there were lots of smaller asteroids hiting the earth would there be any way of surviving? or at least a way of maximizing your survival?

I have a degree in geology but this is my educated guess.

1. The ocean floor is very young and regenerates too quickly to contain much geological information. The oldest oceanic plate is only about 250 million years old. Compare that to the 4 billion year old continental crust we've identified.

2. Most research is being done in the US, Europe, and Australia. In class we discussed how the faults in Idaho stop at the border, not because they literally stop there but because Idaho puts more money into researching fault lines than Utah does.

Test for corona more, and you'll find more.
Test for crime in black areas more, and you'll find more.

Just to add to all the other sensible answers in this thread: the impacts on your map are impacts for which we can detect craters. They would also seem to correspond with some of the oldest parts of the continental crust (Yes, I know Chicxulub is only 66 million years old but it stands to reason that older crust = more craters)

Asteroid impacts are more or less evenly distributed. The map doesn't represent all known craters but is just one list made by canadian univesity. Naturally this means countries with less erosion, less rainforests, more scientific focus on studying their geology and connections to the canadian univesity that hosts the list would have more craters listed.

Practically that means that china doesn't give a shit what some leaf thinks, kongo is impassable rainforest, switzerland has their craters destroyed by mountain formation, and finland or australia aren't being punished by god despite having tons of craters.
