asians have higher iqs than whites but at the same time i pick a physics 1 book and see newton, hooke, pascal but no asian names.

if iq is mainly processing speed how come so few asians actually made a scientific discovery? since they have a higher average iq shouldn't there be an asian newton with extra iq points that can make a scientific breakthrough much faster?
this isn't limited to physics it also goes for medicine, science, math and engineering.

even in the modern era what's the asian equivalent of stephen hawking?
is it a genetic component that limits their creativity?

something that after you studied it makes you go holy shit.

like think of newton, before his physics laws people didn't have a clue how planets just floated around in space then he sweeps in speaks about gravity, about how we spin around the sun etc etc.

It's an interesting point. Not sure tbdesu. I once heard that asian science/math prowess was a piece of propaganda spread in postwar america to facilitate the integration of Japan into the western world's economy.

One could also say that the kind of discoveries you describe- so-called "paradigm shifts," are rather rare to begin with.

The big near term changes like 5G, quantum computing, and AI will come from the U.S. in my opinion.

1) The statistic by the Chinese only look at the educated coastal population, it is not the average IQ of China as such which in some aspects is still to this day an underdeveloped country.
2) The difference in IQ is not a lot, not even one standard deviation. Compare this to Ashkenazi Jews who score one whole standard deviation above the average population of whites.
3) China has been an underdeveloped country relative to Europe for the majority of Modern period. Previously China has been one of the cultural greats.
4) Quite a few recent Nobel laureates have been Han Chinese.

The uptick in Chinese has been very recent because only in recent years has a significant amount of Chinese people been raised in living conditions comparable to that of the West (i.e. high nutritional and medical standards).

I read some blog post by my boy Nassim Taleb. He wrote that very low IQ is pretty accurate in predicting problems with learning. High IQ on the other hand can not be used to make an accurate statement about the person, their learning ability or their success in life.
