The pint is, it would be helpful for the political movement that is insistent on taxation and income redistribution as the only acceptable way to address climate issues to lend more of their support to finding ways to address the problem, even if said ways don't support the unrelated parts of their political agenda.
There is research going on now, but it is, I think, underfunded and too low a priority.
I think it makes little sense to put all of our eggs in the "let's convince people to be poor and accept that their children will be poorer" basket. It does not seem to be working too well, up to this point -- might be nice to have some backup plans.
All that said, this is becoming (becoming!) a political thread. A thoghtful and worthwhile one, and not (yet) /pol/shit, but political nonetheless. Off topic here, really, so I'm out. If 4chan ever has a board for actual political discussion, we can talk again there.
