I rarely browse this board -- I mainly just come here when there are asteroids and other space discoveries in the news -- but I find it so strange how common it is to be met with irrational ">/Pol" responses and this "b-but in my experience" anecdotal shit. I thought I might find more people here who had enough respect for the truth and evidence to engage with ideas they disagree with. I know that's not an argument, but I've read through a lot of threads here and I'm just not seeing it.

Observing group differences is not "authoritarianism." You do not understand what that word means. The conversation is not about "judging" anybody, nor about individuals at all. Due to natural variation, there are always going to be exceptions to trends in biology. The exceptions don't make the trends not exist. Just because you found a white humpback whale does not mean that humpback whales are white. Just because there is a coyote near your house that is friendly and eats from your hand doesn't mean that coyotes aren't generally unpredictable and vicious when they come into contact with people. Or that a midget Russian means that all Russians have dwarfism. Or an intelligent African negating the average IQ of Africans, which actually is in the mid 60s.

You are trying to make a claim that contradicts a preponderance of evidence, based on a minority of biological exceptions. That is not a logical argument. It's not science. When you try to frame it as if the people who observe trends are actually doing something immoral (your word was "judging"), that is manipulative, it's dishonest, and it's reprehensible in a place that purports itself to be concerned with the /sci/entific method.

A doctor, for example, who doesn't take into account group differences would be guilty of malpractice. Certain races of people are more susceptible to certain illnesses and allergies, and doctors know this. It would make no sense to give a man a gynecological exam, the same as it would be malpractice to NOT test for sickle cell anemia first if an African came into the office displaying symptoms that could be that or something similar.

Better policing in areas where they live and come into contact. For example, a light rail system opening up that connects black neighborhoods with white neighborhoods has predictable consequences for the white areas. It might be overall a good thing, in the long term, for the black neighborhoods, but it's going to have severe economic, criminal and social consequences for the white neighborhoods. There are a lot of people who go through life thinking that blacks and whites are the exact same, and they suffer the most in these kinds of situations. With the proper knowledge, they could take measures to protect their communities from the influx of a very different kind of people doing huge amounts of damage there.
