linguistic thinking obviously impairs your thought process because words correspond to ideas that have already been come up with and written down by somebody. you can't expand the sphere of ideas if all your ideas are made of words corresponding to other peoples' ideas.
the phase space of possible visualizable things is uncountably infinite by comparison
it's well-known that to do math, you need to write equations. you can't possibly do modern math in pure words. and most people who do math don't memorize/think in equations -- instead they come up with pictures to encapsulate the mathematical concepts
