The face on the right is just a blurry mess of soft edges. The shapes are lost. The one on the left is looser but at least there was some semblance of edge variety and the shapes are intact.

Right one is technically better, overall: clear lighting, subtler form rendering, better texture. Brushwork is better on the first one.

The regression is only partial.

as >>6017676 said, it's all smoothened out. The one on the left is more dither-y (dunno if thats the right term) which looks brighter plus more realistic - humans have pores and their skin don't have a perfect reflective surface (except for negroid skulls)
