I bough oil pastel crayons and this is the first time I'm painting with it. How can I improve my painting/drawing techniques? I'm an amateur and I've no idea of what I'm doing.

Oil pastels are an awful medium. You did well enough with them but don't expect anything better. If you like pastels over paint then I suggest you buy soft pastels, you can blend them much better and actually manipulate the hardness of your edges.
