It's because they're first instinct is to laugh at it. Do you know how humiliating it is to show someone you trust art you've worked really hard on, and they just laugh, diminishing everything you've strived for? It's soul crushing. They don't care about you. They don't care about your art. If they can't understand what they're seeing, then they'll try to make themselves feel better, by belittling you. I was too foolish to think I could trust anyone. Everyone is just disgusting. They're all awful.
