People often think their imagination is more vivid than it really is and get even the most basic facts wrong when trying to depict something. Like coloring trees straight saturated brown, for instance, even though the bark of trees are generally either grey or a desaturated brown. You really only begin to realize just how much you're not actually seeing and comprehending until you actually sit down to draw and paint the things that you see, even things you see every single day.
Feeling the form, or drawing inside the page, are things that you simply have to train yourself to do.
