Experiment with different proportions, find out your personal preferences and get a better perception for figuring out characters proportions.
Once you've developed an eye for it, you'll get a feeling for how the proportions should be, what will feel right to you and where you can change things up or be more inaccurate with your proportioning to make your drawings look good.
Just try out different proportions in different poses and keep practising; your proportions don't have to be perfect all the time, just consistent and good enough to fool the normies when you don't feel like using references.
Also, no one irl has "perfect proportions", your ideals may be different from other artists' ideals. As a weeb, I like to go with ~7 heads, cartoonists might go with less, comic artists maybe with more...
Just depends on what you like.
