when artists are asked "how do i stop being faggot at drawing" and they respond "draw more" is that just an answer to get ppl of their back?

surely there's specific ways to improve yet all the decent artists i know don't seem to even understand how they got to their level in the first place. or maybe they haven't taken the time to sit back and comprehend it. i know there's value in hours spent doing something but there's also such a thing as wasting time doing bad practice or repeating bad habits surely
