>>5691348 That translation is fucked to hell. Especially because you mixed and matched from both paragraphs randomly. I translated the meaning instead of the words directly, but it goes something like this:Drawing 3 dimensions with few lines.
I simply say "Lines", but there are many ways of drawing them. For example, capturing the gesture (Croquis) or focusing on the outlines. There is also the way of trying to capture the planes / surfaces through "Dessan". (Value study type stuff)
Here, let us consider how we can establish 3d shape with just a few lines. Let us start with the circular head shape as an example. By putting lines near the eyes, thickening them as we continue towards the cheek, and then at the peak of the cheek we turn the pressure down for a thin line, ending in a thicker line again down by the chin.
By alternating between thick and thin lines like this the line feels varied and balanced, and you also start to feel the 3d shape of the object. (Figure 2 which isn't included.)
When you want to express depth, thicken up the lines that are close to you and as you recede further into the back start thinning them out. Ending in lines that are almost not there. If you do it like this you can feel the depth just from the outlines of the object.
