there's something intrinsically off about the way some people rely on reference, you know that chinese guy that gets called out on it everytime in /asg/? i'll explain it if you never go there but even /asg/ that promotes tracing still shit on him even if he changes the pose ever so slightly because people are able to immediately within minutes reply to him with the "original" drawing he referenced/stole. it's like they can always tell he "cheated". i don't know how else to explain it.
i know i'd feel like a cheater if i posted something on like twitter claiming it to be my artwork when it's very obviously just another persons drawing in my style, or a 3d trace or whatever. esp. if people commented a link to the original thing i referenced and said i should credit it, which i've seen happen to others.
even togashi used to (while he still drew) get shit flung at him because he referenced album covers for some panels.
