The helltaker dev is unironically a genius because he distilled this in his game to perfection. Cute and simple artstyle, fantasy characters (demons, elves, moeblobs, etc are more waifuable than realistic chars), really simple personalities for each. It's incredibly easy to digest. Then there's also the parasocial aspect of circlejerking about these characters. The dev is a literal genius.
