You don't wanna stay perma-beg forever right? Then why shouldn't you compare yourself to others to see why you are inferior?Comparing yourself every now and then isn't bad but if you do it too much it can start getting to you even when you're already good. Plus a lot of the time people compare things like followers and such on social media.
As for the time limit thing, that's because there are a lot of factors to deal with like how easily things click for you and how often you can draw. Life can easily throw a kink in those plans and if you aren't as good as you said by the arriving time limit then you get depressed and/or start freaking out.
Granted it won't happen with everyone but it's common enough.
