this type of art is animation, it doesn't look good as a still image but it's brilliant when it's moving. It doesn't matter how overused or annoying the art style is, you still gotta admit when a cartoon is worked on by a bunch of professionals who know their fundies the end result is better than most others.

SU seemed to get a fair bit of praise for those homages too, in my circles. I don't know why western cartoons always get praised for copying anime though, but it's pretty telling when people only go nuts for something when it's trying to imitate something else well. Like when animaniacs did their anime scene. it was one of the main things I saw the show get praise for.
