There are plenty of series that portray the lives or artists but art school I can only think of 2.
Honey and Clover (read the manga, didn't like the story but really liked the art, don't know about the anime) and Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo (panders to otaku but focuses on a group of creative people going to school and their struggles as artist, liked it a lot. Don't know about the manga).
