>>5040690To me, the way the story goes about is pretty straightforward at first, but after we get past the initial hurtle of the inciting incident, its clear that the author has no idea how to write characters. It feels like he thought of a cool idea for a beast-monster gene and started worldbuilding, but then remembered he had to tack on a story afterwards.
I feel like a lot of what attracts people to that manga in particular are the old, late-80's elements of anime- the ultraviolence, the cyberpunk-ish themes and the character design that are characteristic of experimental artworks created in that period. I dont blame them. I'm nostalgic for those things, too.
But overall the effort fell flat for me. I dunno, maybe he has other works that are better.
>>5040670I have Murata's and ONE's twitter on my watch list, and ONE has gone on record saying that HE actually directs the changes for Murata's ONEPUNCH adaptation.
Murata is a total 10 on the illustration scale, but the blame for the recent tomfoolery has to be laid with ONE. A shame, too. I really enjoyed the webcomic for what it was.
