>>5044805I try to think of studying art fundamentals in terms of questions and answers. The questions pop up while drawing every day from reference or imagination.
For example:
Draw portrait from photograph -> My noses look ugly and distracting -> Question pops up: How do I draw noses in a pleasing manner without drawing too much attention to it?
Then I can search for the answer in books, videos or master studies. I can look at specific portrait or anatomy courses. Or I can look at my favorite artists and see how they approach noses and copy their faces. Then I go back to drawing from photo ref and try to incorporate what I understood from the master studies.
