I wrote this shit for the other thread
>>4696242That's why I find it so appalling when people give shit to artists who want to earn something and tell them they should do it "for the love of art", this is a twisted logic that reflects how fucking all important money is in our retarded society. If an artist wants money it's because he wants to continue making more art, or he needs more resources or time to make art. But the idea that money is the end goal of everything is so internalized that this comes across as the wish to make money for the sake of money.
>>4696250>I don't spend money on artThen why the fuck do you complain? You don't pay for art so people stop making it, people will keep paying for furry porn so you will have, guess what, more furry porn. Because you will actually get something back from it. Why the fuck would anybody make art especially in a time where people normally have to work longer and longer hours?
>I guess we should just crank up those prices for Harry Potter books, Star Wars movies and spotify albums, that ought to enlighten people.Your reasoning actually makes this legitimate, don't you understand how dense you are? You don't understand? This is the shit that is designed to sell, and it works because people will not simply give money to art, even art they enjoy. These massive pieces of shit media are not art but a cultural fashion product you have to purchase to stay "in".
>Haven't you read Harry Potter?! You don't like reading, anon?!Do you understand how this works? If people simply gave value to art, and artists didn't have to starve and "do it for the art" but were actually valued for their contribution to culture, things wouldn't be so shit.
Every single novel that made history was written to be published and sold. Some didn't make a lot of money in their time, but they did make SOME money. There was a reward for people who made them, and it wasn't just money but actual recognition, unlike a buncha shitty likes on Twitter.
