It could be worse. The only time people engage with my posts is when I ask for requests or suggestions. Makes me feel like people only follow me for occasionally getting a free drawing of their waifus or favorite characters.

I feel the same. I occasionally draw fanarts of other people's OCs, which get RT'd by their creators, which then explode and generate a good amount of followers. But whenever I don't draw fanart only like 10 people interact with it or even see it.

9/10 that’s why most people follow artist on social media. Why do you think there are times when the artist does something original, they get far less engagement and likes than fanart? Unless your original character is coomer based.

Yeah I know that the engagement and likes are lower on original art, but at least for my case it seems a bit too crazy. The other day I posted fanart that got 1.2k likes, then a few days later I post original art and it barely got over 10 and it had way more effort put in. Maybe that's actually how it is and I'm just salty or something idk.
