Nakamura Seiichi books. They have that very volumetric (almost polygonal) quality to them as namajake sketches.

Very blocky, but solid nontheless.

The real deal isn't loomis either. It's life. It doesn't matter what book you use. They all teach the same principles. The bulk of the work is all in self study.
