The answer is no. The supposition i was replying to, that "Yes, because if you do things related to X that means it will give you skill in Y because you 'understand' it more"
Being into art and having knowledge of cars will help you draw cars, yes, but you dont HAVE to be a car enthusiast to be able to draw cars. And knowing jow to put together a Honda S2000 from its parts isnt going to teach you perspective, shading and line control, just what the parts look like.
If i took someone with enough skill from /ic/, or literally anywhere and commisioned them to draw an engine block and then a bugatti veyron inspired vehicle they would be able to do it despite not giving a fuck about cars.
These threads are beginner bait, but i dont hate them for it because it helps me understand the problems people actually have instead of the "how do i draw this" threads where im not sure what the fuck the issue is
