Why is this thread always on here?
There are some great Chinese artists, and probably a slew of terrible artists for each of the good ones, just like everywhere else in the world.
My impression is also that the America lacks discipline in many aspects of life. However, I'm not convinced that the Chinese have a monopoly on creativity, which is just as important (or more important) than technical skill in the arts.
It's like the "draw 12 hours a day" meme. Sure, you'll develop amazing skills, but there are two very important things that no artist should overlook: HOW you actually learn, and what you DO with your life outside of the art you create.
Your country of origin and your heritage is not going to determine how wonderful your art can be.
