Well what should I use more often? What should I use when doing what? Both serve different purposes and I would just like to know what helped people the most.

I use
>fineliner for warm up exercises and drawing from life
>gioconda/charcoal pencils for figure drawing
>ballpoint/gel pen for concept sketching
>mechanical pencil + paper stump for general drawing on the go
>fountain pen for taking notes / writing

I've ditched graphite pencils quite some time ago and never missed them, they have a shallow value range and require more maintenance than mechanical ones.
