>>4073500This, fucking this. It's ironic, because every other thread is "how I get art friend?", or "how i get art gf?" - when that is part of art school, too.
But too many anons here are irrationally angry over even the idea of art school, for reasons. mostly autistic reasons.
>Mad because they'd have to work to get in>Mad because they won't get art porn classes>Mad because they'd have to leave the house>Mad because they're neckbeards who refuse to admit they need help and think they can overcome all issues by "grinding">Mad because there are no guaranteesAnd more.
Any college is what you put into it. I wanted to go, loved my time there, even in non-art courses, and learned tons of stuff from my art teachers. One of the common issues here is the self-taught, "you don need art school hurrr jews" crowd don't know how to transition from "grind Loomis" to the next step, and flounder around incapable of progressing, and attacking anyone who tries to point out their misunderstanding. Or they retreat to "show your work" when disagreed with. It's all crab bucket games.
Don't want to go to art school and work one on one with people who know WAY more than you do? Or make friends with potentially hundreds of other artists? To get experience with materials and techniques and processes you never would on your own? Then don't go. Art, and the few art related jobs in the industry are the remaining few jobs and careers where your portfolio means more than a degree. But if you're stuck at "grinding Loomis" for ten years, good luck competing with people with 4 years of solid experience, experimentation and practice under their belts, and have the portfolios to show for it.
