>>3438936There are no ways to become popular quickly with out decent art to gain said followers. And even still what's your idea of quick? One year, two? Six months? People can blow up quick on social media platforms but from artists I've seen do it they already have a decent level of skill but are just new to social media.
You have to bring something original or at least your own version based around your personal taste that people can see you enjoy making. I know that not what anons want to hear, they want to think if you just study all the right stuff you'll shit out some amaze balls stuff somehow and get money, but thats not the case. If all your looking to get is a few hundred followers to maybe get some low paying commissions you can do that easily by just making fanart of anything thats popular. Fan art in general is a great way to tap into a pre-existing fan base and gain followers. it's pretty much the standard operating procedure at this point for new people to get noticed.
>>3439002They will be loyal, if you produce stuff they like over a long enough period of time. Just because one fad changes doesn't mean you have to keep making art for it, you can change with the times as well. If your art is good and people like it they'll keep following you, along with new people who come along. It's obviously the reality of things, we've all seen popular DA artists from a decade ago or more who still have large social media followings. There are plenty of independent artists at conventions who have been selling prints and merch for 20 years, they have fans and collectors that continue to buy their stuff.
The key is to not only do one thing or one subject matter and fuck yourself into this ultra niche market. Do a little bit of everything.
