A lot of places ignore fundamentals to the point of it being detrimental, and /ic/ is sort of a much-needed balance to that. But here, unless something is almost perfect on a technical level it's considered shit. If you spend too much time here, it's easy to get an awful attitude towards your own work because you'll view everything you make as shit because, naturally, it's going to take a long time to reach a point of technical perfection. And don't get me wrong, fundamentals and technical skill are extremely important, but art is also about communication and making things that are visually pleasing. A drawing can have technical and/or fundamental flaws and still be good. /ic/ can provide some balance for people who are used to communities where they only hear positive things, and it can be a wake-up call for delusional artists. For most people, however, I suspect that spending time here will only lead to misery.
