When an artist reaches a certain level, aka a competent understanding of the fundamental building blocks, stylization is the only thing to comment on, which is only ever subjective. Disliking JJ's style isn't an invalid stance. Just like hating anime stylization isn't an invalid stance.
Granted, I guarantee the people hating on JJs faces probably think typical anime faces are more appealing even though JJ's faces actually read and look like they have dimension to them while most anime faces read as being flat as a board, with no real features whatsoever.
