>>99858240I'm not going to bother reading the thread, so maybe someone else has said this or not, but someone did say something similar in the thread for the finale.
First thing's first, I enjoy the show, it's fun with a lot of potential to show of its environment and characters and to give them some serious growth in an entertaining way. However, as much as I enjoy it, its got its flaws, or at least things that personally prevent me from saying the show's a consistent 10/10.
The inconsistent style/animation can be distracting. I know people hate on SU and the incredible shrinking peridot and etc, but I honestly have no issue with that cause I genuinely don't notice. But just in the finale there was the style seemed so off at times that I couldn't take what I was watching seriously. Even the silly Boxman Jr fight wasn't all the engaging to watch.
The inconsistent desire of wanting to be taken seriously, wanting to be a balls-to-the-wall crazy show, and for some reason wanting to spread a message. You've got episodes where they clearly have a story to tell and that gets you hooked, and you've got episodes that are clearly for fun and are stand-a-lobe and I've enjoyed them, but, at least with the finale, I feel like it didn't really handle the former that great. The obvious rebuttal is that the show is entirely supposed to be comedic, but then that just discourages being interested in what its presenting, despite it trying to say "oh, no no, this is serious this time".
The general style and use of references I'm fine with, it's the charm that brings you in, but, ultimately TL;DR: the finale made me question whether or not the show's really worth sticking with. It didn't seem like a proper finale to what the show, itself, built up to and it only showed off how inconsistent the show can be in trying to present its characters.
I never tried to "overhype it" for myself, I knew it'd be simple, but it seems like it's stifling its own potential at times.
