>>99777447The Blood Moon doesn't need to be explained until it becomes relevant and does something that warrants an explanation. So far we can't say for sure that it's actually affected anything. Even it appearing to Marco in Bon Bon could have just been a visual metaphor/symbolism for his thoughts turning to Star at that moment, the association was already established in his dream in Red Belt.
Marco's cheek marks can be explained as just the result of him using the wand after being exposed to its magic so much. The example of Festivia demonstrates that anyone can "become a Butterfly" just by continued use and exposure to the Wand (and the recently revealed male Queen, Jushtin, is further precedent establishing that even men can develop cheek marks, despite male Butterflys not inheriting them as the women do).
That doesn't explain the very conspicuous bright red flashes we saw related to Marco's magic when the wand was transforming and when the All Seeing Eye exploded, a very unusual visual choice for the show, and it doesn't explain the glowing cheekmarks appearing on the photobooth prints after Star grabbed them, but there's nothing wrong with the show keeping a little bit of mystery. Not everything really has to be explained.
