I had a pleasant childhood other than school being sucky and having to move 3 times.
I met my biological parents when I turned 18 and my biological dad remains one of my best friends. Cool dude. VERY trippy finally seeing someone who resembles me, let alone having some of my dumb personality quirks.
My biological mom was cool as well but then suddenly she stopped taking my calls without explanation. I hadn't done anything wrong and it just really, really sucked to lose a friend like that suddenly. I based Jen on her a teensy bit and how I felt towards her. It was a complicated feeling, sorta loving someone and resenting them at the same time. So I made Pasq love her all while Jen wanting Pasq to piss off.
It was really fun writing a character like Jen. She was just so awful and diabolical and energetic and goofy.
And anyway, after about 6 years of silence, me and my biological mom finally made amends. It's complicated stuff. She had her own family and me and my biological dad suddenly popping back into her life and crowding her was too much at the time. It still sucks that she didn't explain that to me at the time, but I suck at holding grudges and rather forgive her than spend my energy being angry.
