SU does take shots or entire scenes from anime, but never in a way lacks creative input of their own or uses recognition as a crutch.
They are perfectly valid in their episodes if you never watched anime and you never know they did a funny there because it's not a beat or a joke, but a reference to something they like.
Notable examples:
