dunno why you're bringing asscreed into it, but while his methods are more aligned with the templars he'd never join them. he might ally with them for a time but the second he feels they might oppose them, or that he's relying on them to the point that their betrayal would impede his plans, he'd either subjugate them and put himself in charge or wipe them out entirely. or at least try to.
