Dianes flaws are more pronounced (her general self serving hippocracy, her need to ALWAYS be doing something activism, so on) but Mr PB is constantly uprooting the lives of those around him on a whim, or the fact the that most of the surprises or nicething he does for diane are as much or more for him than they are for her. while he does try to make her happy he seems to rarely think about what she would actually want or what he would like to do for her.
i think they can be good for one another and be happy together but they need to open up to each other more and consider one another feeling more than what they want at that moment

I'm betting next season is the last.
Bojack's had some highs at the end of each season, but this seems like the highest he's ever been while PB is facing a very low point again
So it's either going to be a very downer ending or this is going to be a happy/bittersweet ending
I'd love it if Diane killed herself near the end, PB feels guilty about it, and Bojack is the one to pull him outta it and they become almost indivisible bros

PB does care about Diane. But, he's outright unwilling to communicate with anybody. Even his own brother. Whereas Diane has a hole in her heart and fills it with a need to be greater than herself. Those problems certainly suggest that communication and understanding would be the solution. But, the problem is that PB is unwilling to do this, neither are willing to compromise, yet Bojack is always opening to Diane and getting her to open up to him. I predict that season 5 will destroy their marriage, and it will be caused by Bojack, uncharacteristic of him, being nice and understanding.

They're both at fault and I think Diane less so, because she's obviously more naturally retarded in these social aspects whereas PB has been married multiple times and has no excuse.

Don't get me wrong, I still like PB way more as a character. But Diane is still less at fault here

Yeah, PB gave a huge fucked up gift, because PB is a bad gift giver. I've known a couple and it's something you figure out and deal with. So while giving a house is extreme, you can't say it's not PB just being PB.
Diane on the other hand could knock 75% of PB's shit out off right when it starts by being just the tiniest bit assertive. And all this hyper-considerate attitude copout bullshit she pulls is more than a little selfish on her part. Mr. PB pulled a PB style mistake but Diane got mad at him without admitting her own ongoing hypocrisy which allowed the mistake to happen in the first place. I'd say 65/35 Diane.

Really, PB's main flaw is that he's honestly just desperate for love and affection (just like a dog, really) as Bojack is. In early seasons he's well-aware of the huge differences between himself and Diane and puts on grand displays of love and affection because he has a long string of failed marriages and he's terrified of her leaving him. At the same time he sabotages himself through his unwillingness to compromise his own lifestyle and beliefs and forcing them on others and his desperate need for EVERYONE to love him. An understated moment of that was the Hank Hippopotamus episode, where he begs Diane not to write her expose not because of how it could affect her, but how it could affect public opinion of him and his show (a show he openly doesn't care about and will often forget to even show up for). He still loves Diane, but his need to be loved by everyone takes priority.

She did want it though, you might want to rewatch the context where she mentions it. They are looking for a house and he communicated that he wanted it to feel like her home too. She mentions "always wanting a belle room". Theres no reason for him to think she didn't actually want something she talked so passionately about.

There's nothing particularly special or difficult about loving someone. Just because PB loves Diane doesn't mean he's good for her or vice versa. They both got into a bad relationship while they were both vulnerable to those sort of bad decisions. They think they're being responsible to try and keep the relationship going just because of some sort of shallow love they have for each other, but its clear its not a sort of love that makes for a good marriage

Though the fucked up part is that I can't really see them being a good match for anyone, because they're both so self-absorbed. Honestly polyamory is a good idea for people like these two

That's not really a fair interpretation of that episode. PB is easily distracted and forgetful but that doesn't mean he didn't care about the job. It was completely reasonable that he asked her to stop and it was a damning character moment for Diane that she didn't.
