Compare that to Eliza from Gargoyles who was a diversity type of "April Character" for Gargoyles yet she looked beautiful. Or how about Jessie from New Adventures Of Johny Quest, she was also a pretty teenager.

What we have here is an UGLY teenager. And an ugly diversity fueled character. Total failure. One of the worst things you can do in character design is make ugly looking characters. No one likes looking at ugly looking characters which is why bad artists get insulted when they draw poorly, especially in comics where you see so many bad artists.

Diversity is important in cartoons set in New York City unless there is a scene that requires a street gang be present. Then it's majority white all the way. (you know, just like the real street gangs in NYC!)

I think what bugs people most about April getting black'd is that once a character is turned into a minority, there is absolutely no going back because the bad publicity would be too dangerous. Just like Ice Man is going to be gay forever now and Kid Flash is going to be forever black, April will be black in all new TMNT media moving forward. Unless it is an old continuity where she was white being continued, all FRESH Ninja Turtles stuff in the future will make April black because Viacom can't backtrack on adding diversity or they'll get crucified.

I'm not bugged by that at all. I couldn't care less if April is black.

What I DO care about is that her design is eye-bleedingly bad. That's some straight-up Tumblr grade "LOOK AT ME" horseshit, and literally everyone I've ever met in real life that thinks such a look is even remotely good has been human garbage.

When has anyone ever gotten mad about switching back? Wilson Fisk as been played by black actors for a while and he got to turn back, they had whites and blacks voice vader and nobody cares. Weren't there two kid flashes? There's definitely examples of other continuities going through with it, but no going back? Liz Allen went back, as did Flash. Not seeing a lot of love for a black Johnny Storm. A lot of characters in that new spiderman show changed back so far.
