Reminder that even if (yes, I know the timeline's linear which just means they just vanished into nothing) the timeline diverged, Jack would still fuck up
He abandoned his friends and allies to an Aku who hasn't be slained and there's no magic sword there to save them.
Even without Aku they still can't exist, if a couple met in a war bunker would their children still exist if the war never happened?

It's so fucking sad.

This week I found myself thinking about the moment where Jack gets his sword back, with Odin, Ra and Vishnu watching him. If only I stopped here.

I probably will never be able to watch any SJ episode without that sour taste in my mouth. Let alone enjoy any of Genndy' works.

The ending was fine to me

Personally I would have had it go one of these ways

>A: Keep it similar to how it was up to ep 4. Have jack bond and potentially romance Ashi for a few eps but she dies making Jack finally go for the throat, gather his buddies, and make his final stand personally. People die in the final confrontation but Jack emerges victorious after an epic personal battle. After Aku is slain the gods give Jack a boon for his triumph and allow him to return home. Jack bids the survivors a tearful farewell and is sent back in time where Jack kills past Aku as well as a sort of dual timeline thing. Cue shot of Jack ruling his people and then a small fast forward showing the people Jack met on his journey in a peaceful future

>B: Similar to A only Jack remains in the future. Instead of giving Jack a trip home the Gods congratulate him and Jack sees his father's spirit or something. His father urges Jack to move forward, live, and guide this future to peace. Jack and the survivors rebuild and Jack helps bring peace. Maybe end on a somber note where Jack dies of old age surrounded by a ton of people and a final shot of his grave and blade under a sakura tree as his spirit joins his people

>C and D are basically A and B but Ashi doesn't die and basically tags along with Jack's final stand and gathering the people acting as a listener for people not too familiar with the series and why those people love Jack. For the return home path maybe show Ashi helping rebuild in the Aku timeline for those complaining that nothing mattered. For Path D maybe show their child or someone else inheriting the sword and praying at the graves before walking off
