>>98651854>how many staff has AT lost to time?As you say, McHale and Sucrose are two of the major ones, who both left during season 5. Moynihan was a regular boarder from seasons 2-7, and Castuera from 2-5, but came back to work on Stakes and Broke His Crown. Larry Leichliter was the director of every episode until season 5. Natasha Allegri was a lead character designer and storyboard revisionist on the show for the first 5 seasons. Ghostshrimp was the lead background designer for the first 4 seasons, and has come back to work on Stakes, the last four season 8 episodes, and the finale. Bert Youn is an oft forgotten boarder who was a regular during seasons 1, 3 and 4, and worked on a number of classic episodes like Evicted, City of Thieves, Hitman and Card Wars. There have also been a ton of writers/boarders who have only done brief stints, like Sean Jimenez, Mark Banker, Skyler Page, Ashly Burch, Polly Guo, the list goes on.
Ward stepped down as showrunner during season 5, but stayed on as a writer until the middle of season 7. He also boarded a couple of episodes in s8, and worked on the finale. Though his role became a lot less significant as time's gone on, he never left completely.
Out of the key people working on it now, there are a lot that have been there since season one, like Muto, Xayaphone, Herpich, Osborne, Ito, Sanchez, designers Ristaino and DeForge, and composers Tim Kiefer and James Basichis. Boarders Falk, Seo Kim, Wolfhard, storyboard supervisor Erik Fountain and writer Pendarvis have been there since season 5. Newer key boarders like Alden, Sennwald and Nystrom have been regulars since season 7, and Julia Pott has only been a writer as of Elements. Overall, the AT crew has stayed pretty constant considering its 8 year span. The most change happened during/after season 5, with Sugar, McHale, Castuera, Leichliter, Allegri leaving and Pen stepping down from showrunner.
