>>98358516>There wasn't much to satirizethere was plenty, and people tried (right wingers did at least). Obama obviously isn't as much of a character as Trump or Sarah Palin; but he's about as vulnerable as as Bush, Romney, or McCain. You just never heard Obama satire things, or don't remember them, because they just never got that much traction outside of right-wing echo chambers.
Like, in Our Cartoon President, and elsewhere, there are tons of jokes about Trump drinking diet pepsi; as if that's big deal. That's what right wingers tried to do with Obama smoking cigarettes, make it a hostile meme. It didn't work because the right in America didn't have all of Hollywood, SNL, Real Time with Bill Mahr, ever late night talk show, The Daily Show, etc.
I don't care about cigarettes or pepsi. I'm just saying, you can satirize any meaningless bullshit if you try hard, and have the means. Both the left and right try to do it, but only the left has the means; and you're only remembering Obama as unsatirizable, because the left protected him, and the right failed at satirizing him, not because he didn't do anything mockable.
