>>98064472To be fair, Rogue's visual changed due to two reasons:
1. Rogue originally was supposed to be in her thirties. The writers of Dazzler de-aged her when they made Dazzler part of Alison's rogue gallery, since they wanted to go the angle of Rogue wanting to murder Dazzler because she could do all of the things Rogue couldn't due to her power.
2. Rogue started out as a villain so she looks kind of butch and evil looking. Once Claremont decided to make her a good guy, it meant that she had to be retooled visually to look less evil. So Paul Smith and John Romita toned down her evil dyke succubus look, softened her facial features, and made her look more like a friendly neighborhood punk rocker.
Also, it wasn't until Mark Silvestri and Jim Lee came along that Rogue fully got sexed up visually. Romita's version of her green/black costume was bland and asexual, but it was Silvestri who made it more or less a sexy catsuit costume. Similarly, it was Jim Lee who retooled Rogue's hair to make it less hairspray molded brick shaped and more natural looking.
