>>97884329The first season had a feel of genuinely being somewhat subversive in the way it transitioned from a generic animated sitcom to Bojack's inner turmoil, but after they set the stage they didn't know what the fuck to do with it. The creators immediately fell into a rut of turning the successful season into a formula where every subsequent season would generally follow the same storytelling beats except now that you expect them and the audience is already aware of the tone of the show the melodramatic climax that the entire season is spent building up to finishes like a dry orgasm. It seems obvious that the creators didn't really have a coherent story arc planned out from the beginning and every season is too reactive to the last one, trying to 'up the ante' but really ends up just retreading the same emotional ground so much so that its boring.
And this isn't even getting into the hamfisted social commentary and wacky sideplots that do nothing but fill time in between the narrative.
