>>97825052The sad thing is, the show -had- tons of potential in the beginning. But as each new episode aired, it was becoming a hot steamy mess.
-the show's fate was uncertain even since season 1 began airing, as there were talks about Nickelodeon deciding not to renew it after said first season. It resulted in writers cramming as much shit into one season in order to have it all wrapped up in case the show -does- get cancelled.
-writers have made Korra an incredibly unpleasant and unlikable protagonist. Instead of developing her as a hot-shot cocky "chosen one" who is eventually humbled by circumstances and becomes a legitimate hero in her own right, they made her a Mary Sue that goes from a cocky "chosen one" to a whiny, bratty bitch. And writers insisted this somehow made her a strong, likeable character.
-the whole Korrasami ending was a blatant pandering to a very popular shipping subject on Tumblr at the time. I doubt many people would have a problem with it if it was given proper development and interactions between Korra and Asami were more prominent. Instead, their interactions throughout the show were minimal compared to Korra's interactions with the rest of the cast. But Tumblr community latched onto it because "gasp, a showrunner acknowledged our fanfiction!!!!!!11!"
I had a lesbian friend telling me the only reason she took Bryke's word for it because "she needed it", and tried to shut down my explanations for why the pairing felt underdeveloped. It's nothing but a freaking denial out of desperation.
