Thoughts on Aztek coming on?

I was interested in The Ray when the book was announced but him abandoning his mother just because she wanted to keep him from exploding turned me off him hard.

I think it's a serviceable book. Orlando seems to be in love with Morrison's JLA but can't quite match the same execution of high concept that Morrison could (Orlando should take psychs imo)

That being said, I think he does solid character work (the lobo/black canary annual was great, and his killer frost is awesome too - he's actually progressing her character) but the book is bogged down often by being overly wordy and having clunky art. Part of what made Morrison's run great was that he would let action moments breathe, usually only being punctuated by a cool one-liner rather than gobs of dialogue.

I'm excited to see where he takes it, but its a real 3/5 book most of the time

Orlando's obsession with gay interracial stuff is odd. And they need a good regular artist.

I love all the 90s throwbacks though (Bloodlines shit early on namely) and it's overall pretty fun. It was the best JL book for a while.

But Priest's JL will probably blow this book out of the water

The book has served its purpose. It's proven how shit of a writer Orlando truly is. I got a bad feeling the moment they announced Lobo and Frost would be a part of the team (Although Frost has earned her place, Lobo's inclusion still isn't justifiable).
Also, his arcs are just a crappy version of Morrison's storylines

Stopped reading after the last Prometheus issue, it just isn't interesting anymore. The team seems to constantly complain about Batman being gone and the constant focus on Frost is just boring.
