It's a bad and messy comic that somehow is praised.
I would love to be convinced that it has merits by someone who likes it.

There's also a terrible movie adaptation which somehow also has a fan following.

Eh, it's an interesting take on vampires in a setting that we don't often see. It's not great but it's worth a watch. And then scenes where the vampires are destroying the town are great.

Courtney Crumrin had some pretty great bits. Comics ain't really a fantastic medium for horror though. It's hard enough to pull off in movies.

There really aren't any that seem to be well known or recommended. Like, the closest example I can think of are those creepy illustrations from Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, which is a children's book.

Even in manga there's pretty much only Junji Ito and some half assed attempts by others

Good still-ongoing horror is Black Magick. A rather peaceful witch cult kept very secret in their small is now being targeted, and it's up to one of their members (who's day job is a cop) to figure it out before enough attention is put on them (or one of them gets killed).

DC's Swamp Thing is pretty good.
Lotta good runs, though Alan Moore's is universally considered the best (and for good reason).
The Wes Craven movie back in the day is fine too. And it's sequel is great for a laugh.

A paranormal kinda sci-fi horror about a doctor of the paranormal researching and helping people.
Unique for not just being "it's magic I ain't gotta explain shit" instead all the monsters are like viruses and diseases on a Cthulhu level that he has to cure.

Yep 30 days of night.
Fairly clever premise, vampires taking advantage of Alaska's month long night to basically ravage a small town.
Not a professional review but I remember the movie feeling a lil slow, and the original comic feeling empty. Like it was almost more "these events are happening" not "these events are happening and you care cause you're invested in these people".

If there was ever a slasher film or horror franchise that you enjoyed, then comics are your sanctuary.

Practically every slasher icon big and small have gotten comics of them.
Freddy vs Jason vs Ash, Dexter, Puppet Masters, even Gingerdeadman (but no Evil Bong to my knowledge ... YET).

Most of them are over the top and ridiculous, but those aspects THRIVE in a comic medium since you never have to worry about special effects merely the artists' skills.

Also while tis the season, that link here has Krampus Shadow of St Nicholas.
Similar premise as the Krampus movie of recent, but not the exact same so you can enjoy both without them both seeming like the same story word for word.

Also not exactly scary but I love this series of comics that about 20th century murder mysteries.
They read like a documentary/report but on a little more interesting subjects.

You're just figuring that out now? Not when he got blown to pieces, but the movie still needed a main villain and (as Roy Burns showed) copycats suck donkey cocks so they had to go with "Jason can possess people" thing?
Not when he suddenly developed Wolverine-like healing factor in Jason X before he got his shitty Lord Zedd nano-machines look even though it was never mentioned in other movies? (okay, fair enough, we don't talk about Jason X)

Also there is this comic called Pandemonium wich happens in a hospital for tuberculosis, it should be easy to download, my gf and i got quite scared over it so i can only recommend.
