It could be the horrors of war, the underbelly of crime, the dark side of politics or tackling conflicts of socal issues. Sure they would involve sex and violence because what "adult-content" SHOULD be , is real life. No suger coating to protect peoples feelings. The hero doesn't always win or at least if they win they don't always get seen to be a good person for it.
real life has good people failing to be recognized for the good they do and even being seen as a monster for it.

if they wanted to show that cartoons could be made for ad ults, they should have copied the animematrix set up.

at the end of the day, cartoons are just a medium of art. any "adult" movie could have been done in a cartoon and if it was good, it wouldnt have taken away from the effort.
Cartoons just make high fantasy and escapism more fantastic, where as live action is limited by physics, a cartoon, you can have people being punched to the moon without having to resort to CGI which will look weird compared to the rest of the movie.
its a better way of keeping the crazy fantasy more connected to the more down to death plot development parts.
but nah its all about weed, sex and anti-religion. like what a teenager thinks being an adult is like. trust rich fucks with no connection to reality to make a movie that is just that.
